Chapter 193 - 192: How Are We Supposed to Act This Kissing Scene?

Faye Jennings heard Linden introduce Poppy as his girlfriend, yet now she heard Poppy call him "brother." She found their way of addressing each other peculiar, but she kept a smile on her face.

"Of course. I’ll go sign some more and bring them to you in a little while."

"Thank you, then." Poppy Vance offered a cute smile, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes.

A moment ago, she had told Seth Quinn that she liked Faye Jennings, mostly to play along with Linden, but it was also the truth. Faye Jennings was beautiful and a good actress; a lot of people liked her. While Poppy wasn’t a die-hard fan, she did admire her.

However, seeing her in person just now, Poppy didn’t feel the excitement she’d expected when meeting an idol. For one thing, she didn’t seem as pretty as she did on television.

And for another, it was the way she looked at Seth Quinn.

Faye Jennings’s gaze on Brother Quinn was just too infatuated. Poppy had a gut feeling that Faye was in love with him.

’A woman’s intuition is usually dead on.’

But just yesterday, her brother had told her that Brother Quinn was already married.

’So how could Faye Jennings go after a married man?’

Perhaps it was her young age, or perhaps it was because she had grown up in a simple, sheltered world, protected from its harsh realities. Poppy Vance’s mind worked in simple terms: everything was either black or white, right or wrong.

’Coveting someone else’s husband is just wrong. Even if she hasn’t become a homewrecker yet, she’s on the path to becoming one.’

Linden Jennings knew Poppy Vance so well that he could sense even the slightest shift in her demeanor. Naturally, he noticed the change in her mood now.

While Faye Jennings went over to exchange a few more words with Seth Quinn, Linden leaned close to Poppy’s ear and whispered, "What’s wrong?"

Poppy Vance pouted and told him what she was thinking.

Linden Jennings couldn’t help but chuckle. He pinched her little nose and said helplessly, "You’re just a kid, and you’re already talking about a woman’s intuition. Besides, Faye Jennings doesn’t know that Seth is married."

He wasn’t defending Faye Jennings; he was just stating what he believed to be the truth. Seth Quinn had never told him that Faye knew—and that she had been the very first to find out.

"Oh, so she doesn’t know," Poppy Vance said, drawing out the words. Her tone, however, was dismissive.

Her first impression of Faye Jennings had already been formed. Even learning that Faye was supposedly unaware of the situation didn’t improve her opinion of the actress.

This time, Faye Jennings didn’t linger in front of Seth Quinn for long. After a brief greeting and a few sentences of conversation, she moved on.

’Since she knew Seth Quinn was being cold toward her, there was no rush to change his attitude right this second.’

’Once she drove Clara Grant out of his life for good, she refused to believe Seth Quinn would still treat her so coldly.’

Love makes people blind. Right now, Faye Jennings couldn’t see reality clearly. She blamed Seth Quinn’s coldness entirely on Clara Grant’s existence.

She was utterly convinced that if Clara Grant were gone, Seth Quinn would fall in love with her. He would be hers!

The moment Faye Jennings walked away from Seth Quinn, people immediately swarmed around her. Voices thick with envy and flattery rose from the crowd. "Faye, you’ve really got clout! We’ve been filming for ages, and this is President Quinn’s first time visiting the set. He actually came just to see you!"

"Exactly! Faye, your scenes aren’t until this afternoon, but President Quinn rushed over first thing in the morning just for you. He treats you so well."

"But of course! Faye is Aegis’s leading lady, and she’s so gorgeous. Her and President Quinn are the perfect couple—a true match made in heaven."

"Faye, now that President Quinn is visiting you on set, does this mean you two are already secretly together? Have you been a couple all along?"

"Faye, if that’s true, that’s not cool! How could you keep such amazing news from us?"

Although she didn’t actually know the purpose of Seth Quinn’s visit, she remained noncommittal about everyone’s claims that he was here for her. She simply held a faint smile on her lips, letting them chatter on.

Their back-and-forth conversation was filled with words Faye Jennings loved to hear, greatly satisfying her vanity. Their comments even began to delude her, making her believe that Seth Quinn really had come just for her.

She was overjoyed on the inside, but she maintained a demure facade, smiling faintly. "Oh, that’s not it at all. My relationship with Seth Quinn is just a little closer than yours, that’s all. We’re certainly not a couple."

By deliberately using Seth Quinn’s full name and saying she was "a little closer" to him, she was practically guaranteeing that people would get the wrong idea.

"Oh, come on. Even if you aren’t a couple now, it can’t be far off. Besides you, Faye, who else is worthy of President Quinn? Right, everyone?"
