Chapter 202 - 199: Too Ashamed to Stay with the Crew

Back on set, everyone soon discovered that Seth Quinn and his group were gone. Clara Grant was missing, too. A flurry of discussion immediately broke out.

"Did President Quinn and his people go back to the city? How come they’re gone?"

"Yeah, I didn’t see them during the meal."

"Why would President Quinn leave? Didn’t he come here specifically to watch Faye’s scenes? Her shoot hasn’t even started yet, so why did he go?"

"Exactly. And did you guys notice? Clara Grant seems to be gone too. Normally, even when she doesn’t have a scene, she’s always hanging around the set."

"Now that you mention it, I didn’t notice. So, you think Clara Grant left with President Quinn? Hey, do you guys think maybe President Quinn wasn’t actually here for Faye, but for Clara Grant?"

"What are you talking about?" Sandra, who was standing nearby, could no longer stand it. ’President Quinn, for Clara Grant? As if she’s worthy.’

"Didn’t Faye see President Quinn before the meal? She must know whether he left and why. Let’s just go ask her and find out."

Faye Jennings was already feeling uneasy while getting her makeup done, worried about whether Seth Quinn was still around. After all, everyone on set thought he had come for her, and she had tacitly confirmed it.

’If Seth Quinn just left like that, how is she going to explain it? If she can’t explain it well, won’t she lose face in front of everyone?’

When she came out after her makeup was done and truly didn’t see any sign of Seth Quinn, she knew he was really gone.

Faye Jennings was at once heartbroken, disappointed, and utterly furious!

Just as she was seething inwardly, Sandra ran over with a group of people behind her.

"Faye, we can’t find President Quinn. Weren’t you two together before the meal? Did something important come up, forcing him to head back to the city?"

"Ah... yes." Faye Jennings had to push aside her thoughts and put on her usual elegant, gentle smile, though it looked a little unnatural.

She went along with Sandra’s suggestion and explained, "Before the meal, he suddenly got a call. Something important came up at the company that he needed to go back and handle, so he had no choice but to leave first.

After all, work is the most important thing. You all know that Seth has always prioritized his work. But when he got the call today, he really didn’t want to go. He kept saying he came here specifically for me, so how could he leave before even seeing me film?

I had to be the one to persuade him that his work was more important, and that there would be plenty of other chances to watch me film. In the end, he finally listened to my advice and left with President Sterling and the others."

"See? I told you. President Quinn would never leave without a good reason." Sandra looked smugly at the others. ’I knew it. There’s no way President Quinn would have anything to do with Clara Grant. Clara Grant and President Quinn? She’s not worthy!’

"Then what about Clara Grant? Why is she gone too?" someone else asked.

"Oh, Clara said she had something to take care of in the city, so she left with that Miss Vance. Even though it was their first time meeting, Miss Vance seemed to take quite a liking to Clara. She said Clara was pretty, and that her words were pretty, too."

Faye Jennings’s eyes flickered. Her seemingly casual remark not only severed the connection between Clara Grant and Seth Quinn but also seemed to carry a pointed implication.

Everyone, of course, understood the meaning behind those words. ’Her words were pretty, too?’ That just meant Clara Grant was a suck-up, and that’s why Miss Vance liked her!

"Hmph. She probably started flattering Miss Vance the moment she found out she was President Jennings’s girlfriend," Sandra said, curling her lip in disdain. After a pause, she added, "And ’something to take care of in the city’? I bet she knew she performed poorly today and was too ashamed to stay on set, so she just made up an excuse to leave."
