Chapter 131: Figuring Out A Way Back
"Sha! Sha!!" Rai Rai, wake up!! I am hungry!!
Raiden was shaken awake by Neva the next morning. He looked over the horizon to see the sun rising above it.
After keeping watch more than half the night, he wasn’t able to retain his consciousness any longer and had fallen asleep at some point in the night. Thankfully, no one attacked them while they were sleeping.
Raiden tried to move his body, but it still hurt a lot. It was not as much as yesterday; his body working overtime to heal his injuries, with the giant cut on his leg all but healed, allowing him to move his leg around in a somewhat better way.
The truly unexpected injury, though, which showed no signs of healing, was his right hand. His hand became completely paralysed.
He had broken several bones in his right hand, and he could feel the pain in it, but he couldn’t move even a single muscle at all. It was a truly bizarre situation for him. The only good news was that his fever had already broken over, his body lacking that feeling of weakness and getting burned.
The first thing he did after waking up was to go around and start foraging for food. After enduring such a beating, their bodies were in great need of nutrition to heal themselves, and he had nothing left.
He moved around cautiously from the base of the tree they were in, afraid of straying too far from that place. It was clear that he was deep in the jungle, and he had no idea what he would do if he encountered something as strong as that Black Dragon on the inside.
After 15 minutes, Raiden was able to find several trees bearing fruit and berries. Both he and Neva were able to eat their fill and bring some back for Woolie as well, in case he woke up soon.
After finishing their meals, both of them made their way back to the base of the tree where Woolie was still resting from the night before.
Looking at the sheep, which was rolled up like a dumpling from the night before, Raiden didn’t know what to say.
On the one hand, he felt like it was a very alarming situation, Woolie getting so injured and not being able to wake up even after 24 hours, it was a very bad situation. On the other hand, looking at the round ball of dumpling, he also found it a little funny.
"Sha Sha!!" Rai Rai, when will Big Brother wake up?
Hearing Neva’s question, Raiden adapted a serious expression on his face as he answered her question.
"Ahem, your big brother is just taking a really long nap. He was tired from all the fighting he did yesterday, so he is just sleeping. Don’t worry, he will wake up soon." After finishing his words, he patted her on the head before putting another one on top of Woolie’s body.

As soon as the upgrade started, Raiden saw his condition improve visibly with his eyes as Woolie’s breathing became much more stable, and a lot of wounds on his body started to disappear. Ignoring the weakness from inside, Raiden put a hand on Woolie’s body once again, checking his condition.

"Phew. A few more times like this, and he will be completely out of danger." Raiden collapsed on the spot after seeing the results. Unknowingly, Woolie had created a big place in his life, and his well-being mattered a lot to him.
"Alright, Neva, time to figure out how to get out of here, okay?"
"Sha!!!" Neva cheered in support. She didn’t want to stay in such a stinky place either.
Raiden clicked on the holographic map on his watch, trying to find their current location, only for all colour to drain from his face.
"Fuck. My. Life."
He felt like uttering a thousand curse words and profanities, but somehow held himself back as he checked the current location.
980 Kilometres!!
He had unknowingly crossed over almost a thousand kilometres of distance while in the river, and he was deep into the danger zone, almost bordering on the No Man’s Land.
"No, no, no. This won’t do: we need to get out of here right now." Raiden thought to himself in panic as he quickly picked up Woolie with his single working hand.
"Shaa??" Neva looked at him in confusion.
"We have no time to waste, Neva. We need to go, now," Raiden spoke in a panicked voice as he went to a nearby tree, and tore a big vine, tying Woolie to his chest with it.
The vine also acted as a layer of protection against the wind, as he had already lost both his shirt and pants yesterday, only walking around in shorts, boots and gloves, a truly bizarre outfit.
He didn’t waste any time as he put Neva on his head before making his way back towards the base.
He fiddled with his watch, trying to contact the base for help, only to find no signals so deep in the jungle.
"Fuck, if I die in this life, I am going to hunt you for the rest of your life, Bai Zang!! I hope your pen*s falls off and the dog eats it!!" Raiden cursed under a low breath as he limped forward, his face taut with tension.
The first hundred kilometres were considered a safe zone, filled with Gold and Silver Tier Terra Beasts.
The Next 100 to 500 kilometres were considered a danger zone, with Gold Beasts being the most numerous, and Platinum ones ruling over a section of the forest.
The next 500 Kilometers were named as Extremely Dangerous Land, with Gold and Platinum Tier roaming around, and Diamond Tier ruling over them.
As for the no man’s land after the first thousand Kilometers?!
That was called a danger zone for a reason, filled with Platinum and Diamond Tier and a Mythical one ruling over them.
Raiden had no interest in becoming food for the Terra Beasts, so he found the riverbank from which he came and started walking backwards slowly while hiding between the trees, determined to make it back in one piece.
Throughout the day, it was very hard for him to find food, hide from the wild Terrans, as well as make his way back to the military post.
Raiden travelled throughout the day very slowly, hiding whenever he saw a Terran pass by, not daring to show himself or fight.
It was a constant game of nerves. Whenever he came across a wild Terra Beast, he quickly took Neva and Woolie, hiding behind the trees or in the bushes, never daring to appear before them.
He didn’t dare to travel during the night, finding food in the wild and consuming it only while under the moonlight. He didn’t even dare to start a fire in the wild, just holding on to each other for warmth in the night.
Raiden had lost all sense of adventure as he made his way back cautiously over the next few days.
The way back was very hard and full of danger. He was almost discovered by a pack of Platinum wolves one day, coming very close to mortal danger.
It was only his good thinking that saved them all as he climbed onto a large tree, hiding himself amongst the giant leaves from the wild Terra Beasts, which allowed Raiden to escape from the danger.
From that day, Raiden travelled even more cautiously, not daring to move more than 20 km a day.

Amongst the dark silence of the night, a wild head emerged from the bushes as a man who looked like he belonged in the jungle and watched his prey slowly.
He moved closer to his prey very slowly, with his footsteps completely silent, like he was the apex predator in the dark of the night.
Without making a sound, he reached the back of the unsuspecting prey before lunging forward and pushing his claws tightly into its brain, killing it on the spot.
"Phew. Dinner is ready, Neva. Come on out!!"
Raiden pulled the wild 3-meter-tall rabbit stuck to his claw out as he called out. It had been a few weeks since he started making his way back with Neva and Woolie, and he was finally getting closer to the target.
