Chapter 133: Encountering Humans Once Again!!

Chapter 133: Encountering Humans Once Again!!

In half a day, Raiden covered the distance of almost 100 km. As he crossed the 150 KM mark, a serious expression appeared on his face. He finally reached the area where he encountered the giant dragon, making his whole body taut, filled with tension.

He didn’t even pause for a second as he kept moving towards the base while keeping a vigilant eye out. He moved with much more speed as he covered the distance of 50 km within half an hour, reaching the border of the danger zone without ever encountering any other Terra Beast, let alone that Platinum one.

"That’s so strange. Where did he go?" Raiden wondered as he noticed the absence of Terra Beast. The strange void filled him with uneasiness as he made his way forward.

But after just a few hundred metres of crossing the danger zone, Raiden halted in his tracks as he looked at the scene in front of him.

There were around tens of soldiers from the base wearing that standard green uniform while patrolling the area, keeping an eye out, as if they were looking for something unknown.

Raiden quickly hid in the bushes as he watched them with vigilance in his eyes.

You can’t blame him for this. He was betrayed by someone from the army itself. They had given him a watch that had a faulty contact module, sent multiple people after him to hunt him down, and they also had that treacherous snake, the leader of the fourth platoon, who set him up for certain doom.

If there was anybody else in his shoes, he wouldn’t trust the people from the army either. Raiden’s paranoia was so bad that the only person he trusted in the base right now was Isadora. Other than that, he did not trust a single person.

Looking at the crowd in front of him, Raiden decisively changed his direction, and he started walking sideways, aiming to go around the patrol undetected.

But the more he travelled, the more alarmed he became as he encountered hordes and hordes of people from the army patrolling the border, making his path very tricky.

After walking for half an hour, Raiden had no choice but to give up on his plan to sneak in undetected, as the border patrol was very thorough.

"No other choice then, I guess. We will wait until the night before sneaking in. Let’s get some rest for now, Neva." Raiden spoke to Neva, who tilted her head in confusion.

"Sha Sha??" But why are we hiding Rai Rai? Aren’t these good people?

Raiden chuckled after hearing her words as he rubbed her head.

"Perhaps, they are, perhaps they are not. Who knows? Anyways, it all will be over tonight, let’s get some rest for now." Raiden backed off from the border and deeper into the jungle before finding a hidden branch on a tall tree and climbing on top of it.

He started resting with eyes closed; the operation for tonight was going to be very hard, and Raiden needed all the energy he could get.

-------------------------

"You still haven’t found any signs of him??"

"No ma’am."

"And his military contract module. Can you pinpoint its location?"

"No, ma’am, we found that his contact module had already been tampered with before it was given to him, making it untraceable. We have already apprehended the person who did it. The bigger suspect behind it, Bai Zang, had already fled before we could apprehend him and is currently missing."

"Alright, keep an eye out for his appearance in the wild, and contact me as soon as you have any kind of lead."

"Yes, ma’am."

"Alright, you are dismissed." The woman with red hair waved her hand, and she took another puff of a cigarette, exhaling the smoke slowly, her face filled with tension.

But even after a few seconds, she found that the person in front of her did not leave as asked, standing there with a hesitant expression on his face,

"Do you have something else you wish to say?"

"Yes, ma’am, if I may... I feel like you are wasting too many resources on him. He is nothing but the Silver-Tier Battle Master. You killed over 100 Battle Masters, including a platinum!! On top of that, you went into the field to search for him yourself!! And for two weeks, no less. You even got injured fighting with Diamond-Tier Terrans while searching for him. Even after all that, you have deployed the massive army on the borders, keeping an eye out and still searching for him. Is it truly worth it??"

The man questioned, confusion evident in his voice. He truly couldn’t fathom it. Why was that single Silver-Tier Battle Master so important?

"Hehe, that single Silver-Tier Battle Master is the regional champion from our city. He is the one who got us 10x more resources than last year after winning the championship. He has an impeccable mission record, and he alone killed more than 1,000 Silver and Gold Terra Beasts. That’s much more than your average Gold Battle Master can even get close to. And most importantly, he is my future Son. In. Law. Is that the reason enough for you?"

An impossible amount of pressure fell on the man’s shoulders, making him buckle down on the spot.

"Y-yes. I-I’ll take my leave now." The man took a big bow before leaving the room hastily, as he was running away from something terrifying.

Seeing that man run away, Isadora exhaled a sigh, and she fell back in her chair, with the only sound of papers rustling on the table filling the room as the wind blew in from the open window.

"Where are you hiding, oh shameless son-in-law of mine? Come back soon, or I truly wouldn’t be able to answer that little girl when I go back home." Isadora glanced at the moon outside the window, lost in thought.

Buzz-Buzz! Buzz-Buzz!

Her phone started buzzing on top of the table, shaking her out of her thoughts.

"This is Isadora. Speak, what is it?"

"Boss, we have an unknown wild man breaking in through the perimeter, and he’s moving towards the base rapidly. He is holding a sheep in his hands, with a small spider standing on his shoulder. We suspect it’s him!! He is not listening to anything we say and is moving rapidly towards you. Please tell us what to do next!!"

"Hahahaha!! Finally, you are back, brat!!! All of you get back to your positions. I will take care of him myself. Dismissed!!"

"I wonder how will he compensate me for making me work so much. I am looking forward to it." With a stretch, Isadora vanished from the office, her target: Raiden.
