Chapter 426 - 419: Meeting
Chapter 426 - 419: Meeting
This was the headquarters of the Baiyi Organization. All the locals knew it was an absolute restricted zone, a place where even the government had no authority to enter.
Armored vehicles and sentry posts dotted the perimeter of the ground base. Without permission, even a fly would be incinerated by the advanced laser-infrared detection and attack systems.
One day, an uninvited guest arrived at the headquarters of the Baiyi Organization.
VROOOM!!!
Accompanied by the roar of an engine, a black luxury sedan sped along the flat highway, heading toward the area the locals considered a restricted zone.
"Stop! Identify yourself!"
The luxury sedan was intercepted by the Baiyi Organization’s outer sentry post. The dark muzzles of countless guns immediately aimed at the vehicle.
WHIRR!!
With a soft whir, the car window slowly rolled down, revealing a brown-skinned man in a crisp suit. He wore black sunglasses, and his hair was neatly combed back.
"Tell Bai Jiu I’m here."
The man said coolly.
"How dare you!"
The powerfully built sentinel on duty roared. Bai Jiu was the codename for the Baiyi Organization’s leader, Reyn Morgan. Within the organization, that name held the same power as the word "Emperor." Anyone who showed it contempt or disrespect was considered to be provoking the Baiyi Organization and would suffer the most severe retaliation.
In Mocha, and even throughout all of Soma, the name "Bai Jiu" was taboo, like the personal name of an Emperor. The most absurd example of this was a bizarre case in Mocha: a suspect, while drunk, goaded a victim into saying disrespectful things about Bai Jiu. The suspect then flew into a rage and killed the victim on the spot. When the case went to court, he was acquitted.
However, after his release, the man mysteriously vanished that very day, never to be seen again.
To say nothing of the organization’s countless dark deeds, that name alone was responsible for the unjust deaths of an unknown number of souls each year.
Therefore, according to the Baiyi Organization’s unwritten rules—which superseded local law—this sentinel had the right to shoot the man dead on the spot.
CLICK! CLACK! CLICK!
The sounds of rifles being cocked echoed from the sentry post. Just as these sentinels, men accustomed to killing, were about to pull their triggers...
SWOOSH!
Several of them were distracted by a soft sound. They could clearly feel some kind of powder being carried on the wind, settling on their faces, shoes, and clothes.
’This is...’
The men froze for a second, then looked down at the firearms in their hands.
A reddish-brown powder was trickling from the muzzles of their guns. It looked like... ’rust?!’
CRACK!! CRACK!!
Just then, before those men could react, the other sentinels had already pulled their triggers.
BOOM!!!
A massive explosion erupted from the barrels of their guns. It wasn’t the sound of a bullet being fired, but of a round detonating inside the chamber.
With the explosion, countless bullet fragments and dazzling sparks spewed forth. The tiny metal shards pierced their faces and chests at close range.
They were riddled with holes, a mangled mess of flesh and blood.
AHHHH!!
Agonized screams filled the air as the sentinels collapsed, writhing on the ground with twisted, pain-filled expressions.
What was truly terrifying was how rapidly their wounds began to fester and rot. Flesh sloughed off their skin in chunks until, finally, their stark white bones were visible through the dissolving layers of fat and muscle.
Soon, they fell silent. The once burly, living men were now nothing but heaps of bone and rotten flesh on the ground.
GULP! GULP!!
Although the remaining sentinels were ruthless killers themselves, they had never witnessed such a bizarre and horrifying scene. They swallowed hard, and as their hands trembled, more corroded metal dust flaked off their pistols.
WEEE-OOO! WEEE-OOO!
Alarms blared madly, startling the entire Baiyi Base Headquarters. A massive number of armed personnel began to mobilize.
"This is Baiyi Headquarters! I don’t care who you are, you’ll regret the day you were born for doing this!!"
The terrified sentinel stammered.
But to his astonishment, the alarms inside the base suddenly fell silent.
VROOOM!
An armored vehicle sped out from inside the base.
THUNK!
The armored vehicle’s door swung open, and a giant of a man stepped out. He wore a camouflage Combat Suit and was built like a veritable iron tower. In his presence, even the massive armored vehicle seemed cramped and small.
He was a captain in the base’s guard detail—a monstrously powerful figure in the eyes of the sentinels.
As the surviving sentinels watched in shock, the giant walked slowly to the luxury sedan. He addressed the man in sunglasses, "The leader invites you in. Please, follow me."
The giant then returned to his vehicle. The armored car turned around and took the lead, guiding the luxury sedan forward.
The luxury sedan followed close behind, slowly disappearing from the surviving sentinels’ view.
’Who in the world was in that car?!’
The sentinels remained frozen in place, staring at the surrounding pools of bone and rotten flesh. The hair-raising chill in their hearts intensified.
And the entire time, the man in the car hadn’t even lifted a finger.
...
...
Led by the armored vehicle, the luxury sedan passed smoothly through checkpoint after checkpoint, entering the core of the base.
The tower-like giant personally opened the car door for the man, escorting him out with the utmost respect.
"Only you may proceed to the underground headquarters. I apologize, but that is our bottom line."
The towering giant said.
"That’s fine. Let’s go."
Deep in enemy territory, about to enter the Baiyi Organization’s underground headquarters—one of the most solid fortifications in the world—all by himself, yet the man’s expression didn’t change in the slightest.
Such courage and confidence made the towering giant’s eyes narrow slightly.
He led the way as they passed through numerous security checkpoints, took an elevator deep underground, and navigated the sprawling subterranean complex. Finally, they stopped before a door decorated in a classical Hiloba style.
"Please!"
The towering giant gestured for the man in sunglasses to proceed.
The man in the suit and sunglasses walked forward, pushed the door open without a hint of hesitation, and stepped inside.
It was a lavish room in the classical Hiloba style—or rather, it was more like a palace. Priceless, world-famous paintings; rare antiques from across the globe; large taxidermied specimens of exotic animals; and massive fossils of prehistoric creatures were all nothing more than common decorations here.
"Should I address you as Andy, leader of the Desolation Organization, or as ’Life Silence,’ one of the Celestial Organization’s Seven Mo Luo?"
Inside the room, a man wearing luxurious silk pajamas and a Bai Jiu mask stood holding a glass of red wine. He smiled at the man in the suit and sunglasses as he spoke.
