Chapter 793 - 739: Planetary Devastation
Chapter 793 - 739: Planetary Devastation
The sky on the twenty-first layer was a desolate gray.
The ground below cracked, and in the distance, the ruins of several collapsed structures could be faintly seen.
The air was thick with a scent of decay and rust, resembling an ancient battlefield abandoned for centuries.
The Duke stood on a pile of rubble, his gaze fixed ahead.
There, a giant horse covered in bone plates stood quietly.
The horse was more than twice the size of a normal warhorse, its four hooves stepping on eerie green flames, with ominous lights burning in its eye sockets.
On its back, sat a Knight clad in silver-white armor.
The armor’s design was ancient, the chest plate engraved with some lost emblem, and the visor of the helmet lowered, concealing the face within.
The Knight held a massive lance in one hand, its tip pointing to the ground, with eerie green flames dancing on the lance tip.
Undead Knight, late Level 2.
The Duke could feel the overwhelming sense of pressure coming towards him, unlike the demons that fought on instinct earlier, this opponent had tactics, awareness, and genuine combat experience.
The Knight moved.
It didn’t charge, merely raised its lance slowly, the tip directed at the Duke.
Then, the horse beneath it stomped down with all four hooves simultaneously, the eerie green flames erupting, merging the man and horse into a silver-white stream of light, crossing a hundred meters in an instant.
The lance thrust forward.
The speed was so fast, the strength so powerful, it was enough to annihilate any early Level 2 opponent in one strike.
The Duke didn’t take it head-on.
His body disintegrated suddenly at the moment the lance touched him, transforming into countless earth-colored light particles, dispersing on the spot.
The Knight’s lance pierced into emptiness, with the bone horse charging forward tens of meters before it could barely stop.
It turned its head, those flame-burning eye sockets staring at the earth-colored light re-condensing.
The Duke’s form appeared again ten meters away.
Earth Element Transformation, turning the body into pure elemental particles upon encountering an attack, rendering any physical strike ineffective.
The Knight didn’t pause.
It charged again, the lance sweeping horizontally, the eerie green light at the lance tip forming a crescent-shaped blade covering tens of meters of area.
The Duke became the elements once more.
The blade swept through, the sand mist formed by the Duke getting sliced.
Yet the mist merely paused, then swiftly re-gathered and flowed, taking human form again ten meters behind him.
The Knight pulled the bone horse to a halt, its flame-burning eye sockets fixed on the Duke, a faint chilling hum echoed from beneath its visor.
It didn’t charge again.
Instead, it slowly raised its left hand, grasped with fingers.
Eerie green light gathered in its palm, forming a flickering flame.
This wasn’t ordinary flame, but undead energy, carrying decay and withering aura.
The flame left the hand, trailing a long tail, flying towards the Duke.
The Duke raised his hand, and a wall of sand rose from the ground.
The flame hit the sand wall and exploded with a thunderous sound.
Eerie green light scattered, as the sand grains touched by the flame instantly lost their luster, turning gray and falling.
The Duke frowned slightly.
That was the corrosive trait of undead energy, capable of eroding flesh and contaminating pure elemental matter.
The sand wall was blown open with a breach, more eerie green flames surged through the gap.
The Duke transformed into elements again, the sand mist scattered in all directions.
The flames chased after the mist, weaving and tracking in the air like they had life.
The sand mist re-aggregated tens of meters away, as the Duke pondered something.
In that instant earlier, some flames stained his elemental body.
Even though he promptly stripped away that portion of particles, a sharp pain still came to his spirit.
The Knight didn’t give him a moment of reprieve.
It raised its right hand again, the light gathered in its palm became gray this time, the breath of death.
A gray wave diffused from its palm, instantly covering a hundred meter radius.
That was an undead spell, Death Ripple, directly eroding life force.
The Duke didn’t withstand it directly.
His body disintegrated once more, but instead of ordinary mist, it merged right into the land beneath.
Death Ripple passed over his head, turning all the remaining rubble and dried bones in range gray, but didn’t harm him.
After three breaths, the Duke reappeared from the ground ten meters behind the Knight.
He raised his hand, metallic yellow sand surged from his sleeves, forming dozens of sharp sand spears shooting towards the Knight’s back.
The Knight didn’t even turn its head.
The bone horse beneath it suddenly swung its tail, the tail of bones sweeping out and shattering all the sand spears.
But those shattered spears didn’t dissipate, instead transformed into countless tiny sand particles, adhering to the Knight’s armor and the horse’s body.
The Knight paused slightly, as if sensing something.
It lowered its head to look at its armor, the silver-white plates already crawling with dark golden sand particles.
The sand particles were worming in, drilling into the armor’s gaps.
The Knight roared lowly, erupting with eerie green light, trying to shake off the sand particles.
Yet the particles remained unmoved.
These were metallic yellow sand, having absorbed magic metal, they had strong resistance against energy corrosion.
The undead energy washed over the sand particles, merely dimming their surface momentarily, then they restored as before.
The Knight finally acted.
It released the lance, gripping the shaft with both hands, beginning to chant some ancient incantation.
